Review: My grandson just HAD to see Chicken Little on DVD. We rented it for him, but the entire family enjoyed this DVD immensely! Yes, it does start with the acorn hitting Chicken Little on the head, and he ran to the tower to ring the alarm bell for emergencies in his town. He was laughed at and scorned by all the town, for causing such a ruckus, and having it turn out to be an acorn that had bonked his little head. Poor Chicken Little. They even made a movie in his town about the crazy Chicken Little.
His father was really nice about the incident to him, and really backed him up. Still, the school children made fun of him, even worse than most of the town. Chicken Little decided he would regain his father’s pride in him (as he believed his father wasn’t proud of him, anymore………not true), by playing baseball, just like his dad did in school. His dad had been the town’s star baseball player. This, was, by his father’s mind, NOT a good decision, as Chicken Little was so small, he could barely pick up the bat! But, he had friends help him to get a little stronger, and he worked and worked to become the strongest Chicken Little he could.
He got to be on the baseball team, but, they never let him play. He sat on the bench, and the other team members had the glory. But, as luck would have it……….one day, the star baseball player could not play, due to an injury. The game was nearly over, and his team was behind by one good hit! Pressure, pressure! Chicken Little was able to play, at last! His coach kept telling him, ‘TAKE THE WALK!” as he was certain, the little guy could not hit, and would strike out, leaving his team the losers of the game. Chicken Little would have none of that! He ignored the coach and after 2 wretched strikes, he HIT the ball! It was good! He ran and he ran, and he made the scoring point that won the team the game! Cheers from everywhere. His father was so extra proud of his son! Chicken Little felt like a king. “I am the champion!” he sang to himself in his bedroom that night!
Then, he saw a U.F.O.. Oh, gosh, should he tell anyone? No, NO, that would make him the town’s ‘freak’ again! He told his friends, Runt Pig, and the Ugly Duckling about it, and they investigated it on their own. Sure enough, the aliens were all there, the ships were coming to land, and Earth was clearly marked as their target! No, can not tell anyone, Chicken Little explained to his friends. We have to ‘fix’ it ourselves, or I’ll just be that stupid Chicken LIttle, again! But, the aliens did come and they did start ruining the town, and before long, everyone knew it! Chicken Little did find a way to save the Earth. He’s still the Champion. He is the town hero. How does he do THAT? Well, you just have to see for yourself! I hate to tell the endings of stories that really get good. This one does! Lots of commotions and lots of colorful parts that children and adults can, easily, relate to.
I’ve seen the DVD three times, with my grandson, so far. I won’t mind seeing it again and again. It just is so realistic, as far as how things are in school, when a child is considered ‘a loser’. Even the gym teams were actually divided into two teams: popular kids Vs the unpopular kids! Now, that’s reality for you in any gym class, this teacher has noticed. (I never taught gym). I loved this DVD, and my grandson is getting his own, to watch at home. He loves it, I love it, my husband loves it. It is a real family movie with a lot of realistic things in it, about, how children believe they may have disappointed their parents, if they are losers or winners, and how sad it is to be on the ‘unpopular kids’ team all the time! That’s a truism! Think hard! Remember those days? You will love this DVD! I promise!
