Product Review

Great umbrella stroller for a budget

by   mac345 ,   May 23, 2007

Pros:  compact, reclining seat, rain fly included

Cons:  Heavy for an umbrella stroller, basket is tricky to access in the recline position

The Bottom Line:  Perfect for someone who wants an umbrella style stroller(with some extras) on a budget

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

When you're looking for a stroller, you've got to decide what style you want first. I knew I didn't want a large travel system and I couldn't pay over $100 for a stroller. I got exactly what I wanted in this stroller including:
--compact design (folded and unfolded)
--very easy to push
--big recline for smaller babies
--rain fly
--able to use over long period of time

I hated the idea that I need different strollers every six months or so as the baby got bigger--I didn't have the money for that either. I put my son in this stroller when he was two weeks old. I reclined the seat, wrapped him in a blanket and strapped in the whole bundle with the five point harness. It worked great and I was walking again and losing weight. Once he could sit up we didn't use the blanket. My son has always been comfortable in this stroller and often falls asleep. It is very easy to push and I have put a lot of miles on it with no mechanical problems. I love the rain fly and I use when it is cold or raining and it keeps the baby warm and out of the wind.
This stroller doesn't accommodate car seats, but I didn't want to haul a car seat around anyway or never hold my baby.
This stroller also fits in small car trunks and tiny closets. The sun shade isn't perfect but works good for the size since it is adjustable.
I originally wanted a combi stroller because it had the option of a car seat attachment and folding up like an umbrella stroller, but the two problems I had with it were: small seat size and too much money!
Another positive thing about this stroller is the handle bars are a lot taller than most umbrella strollers and it makes it easy for me(5'5") or my husband(6'0") to push. This chicco stroller has a larger seat area and I know it will work for us for years instead of months.
