HHR - A better PT Cruiser?

Date of Review:  Oct 23, 2005
The Bottom Line: The HHR has a lot of potential, unfortunately GM still has a long way to go with this one..
Review: The PT Cruiser, especially in GT trim, is one of my favorite utility wagons on the road. The PT GT is quick, good looking, offers good utility, and a fair price tag. That said, the all-new Chevrolet HHR (High Heritage Roof) retro wagon didn't...

Any reason to buy this PT Cruiser knock-off?

Date of Review:  Aug 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: Largely a me-too product that breaks no new ground, the HHR's main advantage over the PT Cruiser is a smoother, quieter ride.
Review: My wife isn't much of a car person, but the especially cute ones nevertheless capture her attention. She wanted VW New Beetle when they first came out, but she also wanted to start a family. So functionality, or a lack of the same, nixed the VW...

HHR: More Fun To Look At Than To Drive, But A Decent Compact Wagon.

Date of Review:  Nov 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: Like the PT Cruiser, the HHR is a likeable small wagon competing with several other likeable small wagons. If you love the looks, go for it. Otherwise, shop around.
Review: My Experience

Imagine, for a minute, that you're an automobile manufacturer who's fallen on hard times. Small cars are gaining market share, Chrysler's PT Cruiser has become a huge hit, and now you're hurting for a "cool" compact wagon of...

Stylish Retro-Missed Opportunity

Date of Review:  Jul 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: Only recommended for teenagers looking to impress or short-drive delivery persons.
Review: The title says it all for this new addition to the Chevy lineup for 2005-2006. Even though this machine obviously copies the Chrysler PT Cruiser, which has been a big success, the HHR doesn't quite make it especially inside the cabin.

To...

Probably the Worst Car Ever Made

Date of Review:  Nov 2, 2005
The Bottom Line: A great car if you don't like big Cadillacs.
Review: Those are the exact words my Dad used after my test drive of the Chevy HHR. He elaborated by saying it was too small, not comfortable, poorly laid out controls and just plain ugly.

My response - I bought it.

Surprisingly smooth and quiet

Date of Review:  Oct 7, 2005
The Bottom Line: Strong buy recommendation. The HHR is a winning combination of style, efficiency and value.
Review: The Chevy HHR LT2 with the new 2.4 liter Ecotech variable valve timing engine is surprisingly smooth and quiet for a four cylinder small car. Essentially the wagon version of the Cobalt, the HHR benefits from a proven and popular platform, but adds...

Not for tall people, controls impossible to find

Date of Review:  Sep 7, 2006
The Bottom Line: Would not buy or recommend this for buying.
Review: I have not owned one of these, but my husband and I rented one for a couple of days on a trip we took to CA. It was horrible. The controls were put in places that were impossible to find. It took us 5 minutes to figure out how to open the hatchback...

Same car?

Date of Review:  Sep 16, 2006
The Bottom Line: Another sub-par GM product.. watching them sadly, slowly, die.
Review: This car is absolute rubbish. Reviewiers here who like it, have you driven any European or Japanese cars, ever? I have the misfortune to be renting one and impressions are bad. Styling is a matter of taste so I won't comment except to say the view...

Consider it for your needs not just styling.

Date of Review:  Nov 26, 2005
The Bottom Line: Well worth consideration. Meets the needs and budget of most small families.
Review: The HHR is a bit taller than most compact wagons, gets far better mileage than small SUVs.

I've never been a speed daemon or fashion queen. So neither g-forces nor styling are all that important to me. We use our vehicles as transportation...

Long Live the Lead Sled

Date of Review:  Apr 3, 2006
The Bottom Line: With gas approaching $3.00 per gallon my HHR does almost everything my SUV did at a fraction of the price. Long live the Lead Sled!
Review: The HHR is one of those cars that is sure to evoke an opinion. You either love the style or hate it, but everyone is sure to look. Personally I love it. I think this car looks great from every angle. Too many cars today lack personality, the HHR...
