PRETTY GOOD TRUCK

by   Trufatty ,   Jun 24, 2005

Pros:  nice engine, good ride, handles pretty decent for a truck, nice distance from the ground

Cons:  seats could be alittle softer, engine could have been a v6 but really isn't needed

The Bottom Line:  excellent mid-sized truck that is worth the try. has alot of features and safty feature to make it worth you time

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I have read both the reviews before mine on the truck, and im not sure why they gave it such bad press. i happen to love the truck.

recently i was in a car accident i had a 97 altima (another fine car) anyway. i had rented a car from the local car rental company and instead of giving me a compact car. i was given a chevy colorado LS model.

at first i though...oh wow a i just wanted a little car to get around. but after getting in the truck i loved it.

first off. the colorado is a MID-SIZED truck. it's NOT a FULL-SIZED.

the engine, for some reason people don't care for the engine that it has... the engine in my truck is the vortec 3500 I-5 model. its a v5 with 220 HP. very nice pick up and can move when you want it to... also it can tow about 4,000-8000 lbs. ( i read that in the manual) depending on the package that you get it. mine is the Z71 version. also the engine is very responsive. and sometimes alittle noisy....but only when it's cold. let the engine warm and and it runs pretty quite. also chevy claims it delivers v6 power and v4 gas usage. i have found that for a truck that size...it's pretty good on gas which is nice if you live in the city.....and just alittle FYI it's a 19 gallon tank.

also i forgot to mention the truck does have 4x4 and can go off-road. and i got the regualr cab. they do come in extended and crew cabs

the cab i also enjoyed to sit in. it's nice a roomy. my 285 lbs father can sit pretty comfortable with enough head room. however the seats are alittle firm...but not that bad.

the ride. another important part.. the truck rides pretty smooth. im not sure of the other to reviews that say the truck rides hard...but mine doesn't it's nice a smooth and takes the bumps and holes in the rode like a full sized truck. also i don't hear any rattling in the cab when you do hit a bump or hole. it's pretty quite...unless you hit something massive. it handles turns fairly well.....but i never make a sharp turn in it anyway.

the center console. i think it's nicely designed and placed. it's dead center in the middle of the truck. so it's easy to read and reach everything is labeled clearly and it's not cluttered with stuff you don't need.

the DIC(you'll read about that in the manual) is the drivers information center. this is the part of the truck i love... it sometimes talks to you. it convays information to you on a orange lcd that maybe you door is open or something is wrong with the truck and it will even tell you when you need to change the oil. pretty neat.

the bed. i think this truck comes with a 6 ft bed...i've only seen it with that... not much info see...just the bed of the truck.

the safty features. this has so many... day time running lights, auto head light system. that will turn you head light on in dark or overcast conditions. dual airbags. this stuff really helps on your insurance.and ABS brakes and thats just to name a few

the look of the truck it very nice. it's alittle square in the from then kinda rounds off alittle. pretty much you classic chevy style.... very nice looking truck.

and of course the truck somes standard. power lock, windows, radio with RDS, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, AC just to name a few. you can always get more stuff added.

if you looking for a mid-sized truck. give this one a test...you might like it. i did
