Disclaimer: The author love's Chevy's--Cobalts included

Between my wife and I we've owned a total of four of the predecessors to the Cobalt--an 87, 91, 93 RS Wagon and 2000 Cavalier. All were purchased new.

I drive my cars hard, put a lot of miles on them, and drive them places that would make most 4X4 owners cringe.

With the exception of the 91, they've always held up very well.The 93 and 2000 both had only one significant trip to the repair shop(one alternator and one fuel pump) in 183,000 and 143,000 miles respectively.

When the Cobalt came out, it was an no-brainer--I HAD to have one.

Mine stickered at $15,300 and included the 5 speed manual transmission(my preference in any car with a 4 cylinder engine and air conditioning).

Report after 3.5 months: No bugs of any kind and no warranty repairs.I've change the oil--that's all.

My only criticism of the base model is the interior--they should've spent a few extra bucks on the fabric.

Overall, I like it and I'm glad that we bought it.

Combined city/highway mileage for the mix that I drive is low 30's.
