I have always bought used cars. I drive them to 150,000 plus. I have owned cars similar in a small car class. Chevette, Tempo, 2-Escorts, Sunbird. I never thought I could afford a new car. Then along came my 2005 Cavalier.

First let me tell you what I love about this car. For a small car it has plenty of get up and go. Ride is smooth, fairly quiet. I love the Eco-tech engine. Clutch feels like a dream, and the short shifter makes driving fun. Outside looks good. I tinted my windows black and it made a big difference ($155). The back end is modern and sporty. The sides can be a bit plain but the sports wheels took car of that. Front looks fast and sporty.
I opted not to get power windows or locks. I had keyless entry added on for $80.00.
I qualified for GM Employee pricing but there are far better deals out there.
The key here is REBATES! REBATES! REBATES!
Here is the breakdown in what I paid:
$16,150 list
$5,000 in rebates or my dealer was having 1/3 off sale.
I took $5, 5368 instead (1/3)
$1,000.00 GMAC rebate (I financed with GMAC then after 5 months I can refinance with my bank at far better rate, also the first three months there are no payments)
$2337.00 for having a GM MasterCard. ($337.00 in points with a $2000.00 bonus)
After all of that my car came to $7,400.00 –
Then they gave me $1000.00 for my 92 dodge caravan (160,000 miles on it).
My final price was $6,400.00 for a BRAND NEW CAR!
I believe in buying American and the Chevy Cavalier is the best buy going. I could not be happier.
The engine noise is pleasing to my ear. The brakes are very strong, and quick. The only thing I could find to complain about is that the front cup holders seem to be in the way. The back cup holders are not built in, but are the lid of the console if it is opened. I rarely have anyone back there but I think it looks kind of bad. Everything else I love.
After tinting the windows, I have had strangers ask me what kind of car I have. IT really looks great, rides good, and is such a great deal.
