Cons:
cup-holder shelf collapses with too much weight
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend the 2004 Venture for any family with more than 2 kids. You can't beat the seats.

My wife and I sought out the 2004 Venture primarily for seating. The adjustable 3 seats in the middle are very versatile and convenient. We love the fact that we have 8 seat belts which allows for us, the three kids, and company with no problems of getting in or out. The integrated child seat is nothing less than awesome and I wish there was more than one. There is spacious storage even when the 3rd seat is upright and when you fold it down it's like a small pick up truck. The folding of all seats in the van are very very easy to use, which makes it just as fun as it is practical.
The gas mileage is terrific. My wife and I were debating over a large SUV like an Expedition or the Venture. And after comparing the two side by side we found that the Venture had the same if not more interior space; plus the mileage 20 gal in the city and 25 on the highway, which is much more than I can say for the Expedition. Of course you loose power and towing capability with the van but with 3 little ones we won't be doing much boating any time soon.
The electric sliding door is very nice, I only wish both the doors were electronic like some others are. There is a button above your head, at the door, and on your key chain to operate the door, which makes it easy to operate the door no matter where you are.
It drives very nice, handles well for a large vehicle, and is actually quite nice to drive; as far as mini vans go.
The acceleration will surprise you when the van isn't loaded down and makes it fun to get on the interstate.
The cup-holders are a disappointment. You can't put two large drinks from a burger joint side by side or the cup-holder shelf will actually collapse. What was Chevy thinking! The controls are simple, attractive, and a pleasant glow at night time.
We will own this van for a long long time. It has everything we need and more; and most of all it is an enjoyable vehicle to operate from top to bottom, except for cup-holders. However the cup-holders do get the job done, just not with two very large drinks side by side.
I've owned the van for two years, we bought it used with 17,000 miles on it. It has 33,000 miles on it now and we have had no problems whatsoever. Why Chevy discontinued this great mini-van, I have no idea.
