Product Review

Brakes, brakes, brakes

by   krobinett ,   Feb 4, 2007

Pros:  Roomy, comfortable ride, stereo

Cons:  BRAKES

The Bottom Line:  I would not recommend this car at this point because it seems to have mechanical problems at relatively low mileage.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I like this car - it's roomy and comfortable & gets reasonably good gas mileage (26 mpg) for this size car. I bought it because we needed something 4-door to fit adults. It rides nicely and has a great stereo. Had to get manual seats as the power seats did not go back far enough for my husband. The manual gave him a bit more room for some reason. I bought GM because it looked like they were getting to a point where their cars were almost as good as Toyota and Honda - WRONG.

I hate the brake problems. As I read the cons on this car all over the web, I see I am not the only one. GM must be ignoring all the complaints. The first time they started to pulsate, the car was under warranty, and the dealership ground them down. The next time, same thing, but $60. Now they have been replaced for $250 - we didn't go to the dealership this time hoping it would be done "right" by someone else. The dealership should have replaced them the first time, but that might cost them something. At 46,000 miles I wouldn't think we'd have to get new brakes already.

Also, when driving at low speed, I can feel the engine is not running smoothly. Thought something was dirty or watery gas, but it comes and goes. Not sure I will bother having this checked at this point.

I have a 1993 Toyota with 175,000 miles on it and have not had as many problems in all the years I have owned it as I have with this Chevy in 2 years. We may just dump it in the spring.
