Exceeded Every Expectation!

We purchased a 2003 50th Anniversary convertible in April, 2003 and it has exceeded all of our (very high) expectations. It is fast (of course), handles amazingly well (I'll get to the details), very comfortable for long distance travel, and has been very reliable.

The handling/comfort equation was the biggest surprise - we expected it to handle well (it's a sports car!) but we did not expect it to be so comfortable for long trips. Our 2003 came with what Corvette folks and General Motors/Delphi call magnetic ride (RPO F55) and it is a stunning technical achievement.

Reliability has been very good. We have had one problem in almost 12,000 miles - an emission hose that kinked, fixed under warranty.

For folks not steeped in Corvette tradition, you should know that driving this car will never leave you lonely. Other Corvette drivers will wave at you (and expect you to wave back) and it seems everyone has a story about a Corvette that their parent, sibling, or friend drove.

One more thing - in this era where folks are starting to think about gas mileage again, the Corvette is impressively frugal for such a powerful car. On Memorial Day weekend in 2004 we took a multistate trip that accounted for 1974 miles. Over the entire trip, including some fast and spirited driving, we averaged 27.1 mpg.
