Author's Review
On our quest to find the perfect vehicle for our ever growing family (Mom, Dad, 4 kids and 1 nephew!), we spent hours, days, weeks and months reviewing, driving, comparing and haggling. Finally, exhausted and ready to end our search, we decided that deep down there was only really one choice. Time and again we came back to the Chevy Suburban. We drove Chevy Trailblazers, Ford Expeditions, Ford Excursion, GMC Yukons, Lincoln Navigators and alas - Chevy Suburbans. The thing that initially attracted us to the Suburban was obviously the roominess. It can accomodate all 5 children, plus a friend and all of the gear that comes with those children - with room to spare! One big concern was the fuel efficiency - or lack thereof. We researched and read and compared and in all honesty, the Suburban is very comparable to almost any SUV out there. In fact, on a recent trip to St. Louis, we consistently got over 18 miles per gallon. That's excellent for a vehicle this size!
We opted to go all out and got the works - leather heated seats, 4 wheel drive, cd changer and all automatic windows and locks. I could live in my Suburban!
The kids love the extra room, and to top it all off, the Suburban is actually one of the only SUV's that is not required by law to have a "rolling" warning installed on the underside of the visors. The reason is they have passed safety tests by the federal government and have actually been found to be one of the safest SUV's on the market today!
All in all, we have not regretted our purchase one bit! They can be a bit pricey, so I would recommend doing your homework and having a set price in mind before you go in. Also, by buying a 2 year old vehicle, we saved almost $20,000! That's a tremendous savings and it still looks brand new!
Good luck - I hope if you decide to buy a Chevy Suburban that you are as happy as we are! We are in love and cannot imagine ever going small again.
Yes, we are the bad guys our there driving SUV's and supporting war by driving a big ole SUV. But hey - you try fitting 5 kids in a Camry and I'll show you a war!
