I bought the truck in 2001 as a used truck. It was in great shape. Always dreamed of having one of my own and quit borrowing friends and families ones and owing favors.
The truck ran great, slight problems since purchasing it. The stock tires Wrangler ST are CRAP!! No traction in the winter snow and very poor in the rain. The dealer told me that the tires passed the minimal tread depth and that GM only puts on the minimum required tire as per Transport Canada Regs. This means they only have to put on either a summer tire or winter tire. They don't have to put an all season tire on. THis was a bit of a shock but after dishing out over $500 on new tires, the truck rips through anything. My advice is to upgrade the tires before purchasing the truck, or try and get the dealer to install a good all season.
I had a windshield leak which was a manufacture defect. The dealer fixed this with no hassel.
Last summer I has 2 universal joints go on me. I heard a cherping from the rear end of the truck and took it in. Remember to grease those fitting if ou are changing your own oil.
The truck is hard on gas but hey it is a truck afterall.
I have been using the truck steady hauling things here and there and yes even collecting favors for helping people move things or pick things up.
This truck has been VERY reliable and I would highly recommend the truck to anyone.
UPDATE: Sadly to say I traded the truck in on a Bonneville due to Gas prices. Hate to see it go, the thing has been so reliable and has been the best car/ truck I have had yet.
I highly recommend this truck to anyone, even after driving a Ford and Dodge.
