2008 Malibu Classic

Date of Review: Jun 14, 2009

While packaged as a 2008, the body style of the "Classic" is the same as the 2007 model. I know many are excited over the new sheet metal of the re-designed 2008 Malibu, there were some comprises made for the sake of appearance. First and foremost the new 08 lost interior volume. Fact; there is less headroom in the redesigned 08. So much so that I don't fit in the new model.  The 04-07 Malibu's were among the roomiest cars available. Also comprised is front end visibility. The A pillar on the new model are slanted to the point of blocking some of the view. Not good. The "Classic" outscores here to. The "Greenhouse" view is gone from the new model.
Think you are getting an improvement in MPG? Think again. I get 32 mpg doing a steady 60 mph with the A/C on, 20 in the city. The numbers are impressive when you consider that the car has a six with 219 hp. Plus goes from 0-60 in under 8 seconds. Let's see a Honda Fit do that.
