2008 HHR SS - SWEET!
Date of Review: Feb 26, 2009
The Bottom Line: If you like the retro look and want performance and mileage - BUY THIS CAR
Purchased this little hot rod in March of 2008. I was looking for something that had good performance, good looks, good mileage and was practical.
The HHR SS is the perfect car for my needs.
AMAZING CORNER CARVER- The suspension was refined at the Nurburgring and this car handles very well. It doesn't push the envelope like a Corvette, but it out handles Mustang GT's, Mazda3's, Civic si's.
GIDDY UP- at 260 HP (290 with a stage one add-on from GM) this car goes FAST! I've had mine up to 120 MPH (under controlled circumstances of course ;-) and it still has pedal left. I have surprised Mustang GT's, Porsche's, Audi's and lots of tuner trash.
FEATURES- SS Power buckets in front. On-Star, XM Radio, Hand-Free cell phone. Moon Roof is nice too.
PRACTICAL? - You betcha. Useful storage room in back, unlike the PT Cruiser, Caliber, Mazda3 etc....
ROOM for FOUR? - No Problem
GAS MILEAGE- I get 27 MPH in a mixed daily commute. I cruise 25 miles on the freeway @ 70-75 MPH and then do about 10 miles of city Stop/go.
In my opinion this is a sweet, stylish little retro hot rod. I have added some pin-stripes, done a few interior and exterior mods, and cranked the HP up with the $695 Chevy stage 1 kit (Still keeps the warranty!)
I won a third place for Mild Stock at the HHR Heritage Nationals in Branson Mo last year, and this is mostly a daily driver.
