Entry level large grill
Date of Review: Jan 22, 2008
I bought after deciding to go back to all charcoal cooking; replaced a high $ propane that burned the rubber hose on a fresh tank. Whoosh! (My fault for leaving it untended.)
Material quality is what you could expect for the price. Assembly IS a two person job, otherwise not challenging with screwdriver, rachet and wrench set.
A basic usable unit, not a lifetime purchase. Store weather protected if you want it to last. Large grill area/capacity is its best feature. Needs another level for heat adjustment. Thermometer gives you gradients of "warm, ideal, and hot".....Riiiight!!...
As already noted: One piece grill is not convenient; two or three piece would be better, particularly for cleanup after smaller cook sessions. Front door for adding charcoal should be larger for ease adding coals; it is only option for extended cooking because of the single grill. Air leaks abound: the bolt together box, fit around the lid, front door. Not insurmountable, but others point out, lots of things one could do to improve air seal, heat regulation, convenience of use. Bottom line: An entry level large grill, but if you need the cook capacity for crowds, it works.
