Solid BBQ

The Bottom Line: Great grill for those who love to create their own cooking experience. There is some room for improvement, but also for adding your personal touches! I love it!
This grill is a great project for a weekend, but make sure that you have two people for the job. Also, instead of the two adjustable wrenches the instructions call for, use a vice grip and a ratchet tool. It will cut your construction time in half-at least. Plus it will allow for very tight seals. (power drill with a clutch would be the ultimate seal, but hand power is sufficient). Chances are there will be some missing parts, (screws, bolts, nuts, etc..) as this has been the case with my girlfriends, my fathers, and my sisters. No need to call the help line as it is a quick trip to the hardware store for standard sized, inexpensive parts. (Granted this shouldn't be the case, but seems to always be for products made in China. Things simply get lost in translation).
Can't quite figure the best way to clean the ash pan, but all things take time to figure out, and the coals don't have a setting high enough to get a good sear. This being said I'll figure something out. Good suggestion about placing bricks and then another grate. Once again unfortunate that you have to do that, but it is what it is.
The ability to add coals and or wood to the cooking process is key for long slow bbq though, and there are very few grills on the market, in this price range, which have that capability.
It's a beautiful grill and a great deal for the price! It would be great if Charbroil still made the old CB900, as that is what I had before. I also looked at the CB 800 series grills, however my local retailer didn't carry those models and the special order would have taken simply too long.
