Author's Review
I bought this grill for my darling husband who insisted that a man is not a man without a grill. Unfortunately, when you live in a high rise with a small terrace and sticky co-op rules against charcoal, gas and propane, your options are quite limited. I also wasn't too keen on having an eyesore taking up my precious view. But, I saw the Char-Broil Caddie in a local hard ware store and it was the answer to everything. It's sturdy, electric, and not bad looking.
I've had it for two years now and it hasn't given me any problems. Although, and I'm not quite sure how, my husband seems to create flames with it every time he uses it, so he really isn't allowed to any more.
I use it nearly every day in the spring, summer and fall. I clean it once a season, it's a messy job, but not too grueling. Then again, I'm a city slicker and have no clue as to what it takes to clean one of those back yard monster grills.
True, you cannot cook for an army on it, but I, personally, cannot fit an army into my apartment anyway. It has a 15" diameter and I can fit 4 to 6 (6 for a tight squeeze) hand made burgers on it.
The temperature control is attached to the plug and is easy to figure out. It is a knob that is clearly marked and works pretty much the same as a knob on your average stovetop.
It took me some time to figure out that the little hooked metal bit inside the cover served as a hook for hanging, (sounds ridiculous, but if you see it, you'll understand). But once I reinvented that wheel, I had nothing but love.
And it's sturdy as heck! We live on a high floor and the wind gets pretty bad sometimes. My neighbors and I have had huge potted plants and trees (some weighing in around 100lbs at least) blown over, but the grill stays put.
Food cooks up great and you get a very accurate reading on the temperature gauge. I just love the thing! Now, I'm the grill master!
