Story of Charles Chaplin

I first saw this movie when I rented it once it came to video and I must say I bought it right away as soon as I could. I watch it regularly and each time I watch it I love it that much more. It's a deep rooted favorite of mine both for what it gives historically and for Robert Downey, Juniors performance as the beloved Charles Chaplin.

I found the factual input admirable and the music superb and somehow fitting for this film. In fact, I hope to find the sound track to this film. This film chronicles the life of Charles Chaplin, famed comedic actor/director/creator during silent films and even some "talkies" in the later years. The feature includes both personal and professional aspects of the artists career and even features a special actresses appearance so be on the look out of who plays Chaplin's Mother in the film! In fact, there is quite the variety of well known actors and actresses who make appearances in this film. I quite literally believed Mr. Downey was somehow Chaplin himself returned! He was riveting, funny, sensitive and yet dignified with his portrayal of Mr. Chaplin.

Every time I watch this film it isn't enough to quell my desire to see it again, I love and recommend it to everyone I can. My only let down was that Mr. Downey was not given the academy award for his performance as I felt he so deserved and earned but that's the politics of Hollywood I suppose, we know you're great Robert and we love your work so keep choosing these great films to do and you'll get there, in fact-no need to worry you already are there in my book! I am now an official Chaplin fan myself and find myself watching his films when they air.
