Author's Review
If you want to realistically reproduce aircraft controls you simply cannot do without rudder pedals. The PRO version of the pedals combines the realistic back-forward motion of the airplane pedals with toe brakes functionality. That alone is worth the extra price. (The non-pro version of the pedals does not have realistic motion and simply acts like car pedals, not like aircraft pedals. In aircraft pedals, when you move one forward, the other one moves back. FYI)
As with anything you going to be using your feet on, quality and durability is a must. Suffice it to say, the pedals are nearly indestructible under normal use. CH products prides itself on quality and it shows. They pedals are also quite large so if you have large feet you will not have any problems using it.
The pedals are, of course, aimed at aviation enthusiasts but easily convert into driving simulation pedals. But where they really shine is flight simulation. If you have a yoke or a joystick alone, the next logical step is to add the pedals.
Customization has become a trademark of CH products. With the included software, you can make these pedals work with any game. USB interface is great and makes hook up easy.
A note for those who want to use these pedals in flight training:
they will really help you along provided you already have a setup that includes a realistic yoke and flight simulation software. While there is no substitute to actually flying a real aircraft, you can come pretty close on your computer, but only IF you have controls that duplicate exactly the controls of a real aircraft. These pedals will allow you to do just that. The advance in mass market flight simulation software, combined with realistic flight models, graphics and flight controllers allows you to do many things on your computer, as opposed to in a plane paying $100 plus dollars per hour.
Shopping for one:
When you shop for these, you will see a lot of pedals listed under many names and numbers. There are two versions out there, USB and older game port. Make sure you get USB unless for some reason you want older model that is still floating around. Just keep in mind gameport limitations. Also, what you want is the PRO version that looks distinct from non-pro version. Just look at the pictures. As long as you get PRO USB version, they are all the same. The CH products model number is 300-111
