When your toddler gets a little too big for his/her carseat, You go looking for the next stage seat. I looked around everywhere (including several stores and Epinions) for the right Booster seat for our family.
I was shopping at Babies-R-Us and they had several to choose from. We saw the Century Breverra Ascend Booster Seat. This Booster seat has everything you will need. Let me describe the seat to you.
First off, this Booster is a 5-Point Harness System, meaning you have 4 straps that come together to hold and protect your child (one on each shoulder, one on each hip and the one that comes from the childs crotch area). It fastens about mid-belly. The 5-Point Harness System is great. This was our first purchase of a seat that was not the overhead shield type.
The next feature I love about this Booster is that it has a cup holder. I loved this. We have spills in our SUV quite often with McDonalds cups and now we have a easy place for our daughter to put it without the possibility of tipping over.
Next, This Booster has arm rest, which provide a more "grown-up" styling. I noticed when putting her in the other ones that this simple feature is a definate plus. It just makes her look more comfy in her seat. (Remember she is only 2 and cannot tell me wow, mom this is way better)
The Comfort Clips are the next safety feature. These are clips on the upper corners or each side of the Booster. These clips help you keep the Vehicles Shoulder Belt away from your childs neck and Face. Altho, my daughter does not use this feature yet, I did try it and they keep the seat belt in place and it isnt easily movable.
The fabric of the Booster is a dark grey/black with a small printed design. It does not show dirt. It also is a soft fabric. This Booster also has a extra thick padding below the seat cushion.
They also include a Deluxe Tether Strap that fastens behind your backseat (of course your car has to have the hook or you can install one yourself, directions included)
Installation of this Booster is a little time consuming. It took me about 45 minutes to install it. When using the 5 point-Harness system (30-40 pounds), it does require the safety lock clips which you slide over your vehicle safety belt. But make sure to check in your vehicle manual to see how and which seat is best for your vehicle.
Overall, this Booster is the best design of any Car Seat I have seen around. On the box it has a sticker that says, "Design of the Decade- Industrial Deisgn Society of America". I truly agree. I love this Booster and think it provides my 2 year old with a safer and more comfortable ride.
