Author's Review
I am one of those people that you see in the mall and say "Don't I know you from somewhere?" and I coyly smile and reply "I get that all the time! I must have a twin out there!!" :D
Of course, what these fun strangers who are kind enough to compliment me DO NOT know, is that I am a fashion trend chameleon I have looked like Jennie Garth (Beverly Hill 90210 Kelly), Nicole Kidman (her early, curly Tom Cruise days), Michelle Pfieffer (One Fine Day Do), Jennifer Aniston (That is Rachel Green to you!), and several others!!
How, you ask, do I do this??
I'll never telllllllll...
Just kidding!! :D
I buy this magazine every couple of months!
Celebrity Style magazine has it all! It is always ahead of the fashion trends, because they do the celebs hair! Each issue contains short hair, medium hair and long hair. They offer up-dos for things such as weddings and proms, and give styling tips next to the pictures along with suggestions for hair types (fine, course, thick, oily, etc) and give hints and tips on what products to use!
They feature different celebs each month! Whatever is current you will find in this magazine! I usually flip through it when I am at the newsstand, just to see if there is something I currently want to try or may want to in the future! (I am not one to stay the same for long)
While they have several pictures of celebrities, they also feature in house models that are sporting the current trends too. Although some of them are crazy and I wouldn't be caught dead in, there are alot of haristyles that I fall in love iwth even if it is a model as oposed to a Hollywood vixen!! They also have alot of makeovers that show before and after, and articles on hair care, so it is a well-rounded magazine!!
I currently have "The Rachel" flip shag from the early days of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., which I had found a gorgeous pic of Jennifer Aniston in a one page tribute to her that showed her beautiful styles through out the years!
I have baby fine hair that can not seem to hold the Marcia Brady straight long look, so I need layers with whatever haircut I get! With my hair profile, I am always able to find at least a handful of pictures as to what I want to try if brave enough! I have an apple shaped face (think Tiffany Amber Theissan or Robin Wright Penn) so it compliments me to have my hair frame my face and have different angles that are both sharp and soft at the same time. I need celebrity treatment! No run of the mill eight dollar special is going to cut it!!
The photos are very clear, and close up so that you shouldn't have any problem when walking into a salon! I have an awesome stylist, her name is Gail, who has given me most of my risky cuts and made me look gorgeous! I have had bad hairstylists, though, who do not cut the right way, or too much or too little off, or look at the pics and blend it with some new style that is out that they have memorized so it comes close but not quite. Gail travels to New York City and has met some of the best hairstylists in the country, and is certified by Paul Mitchell! She is awesome, an artist, so I am very lucky!!
I would pay the extra dollar if I were you when it comes to getting your hair styled. Reconsider going to the generic tv ad $10 cuts when you get whatever hairdresser is next on the list. Find a salon that charges at least $35 that includes shampoo & style. When you find someone you like, befriend her. Spoil her.
So, if you want to look like Eva Longoria, Jessica Beil, Cameron Diaz, whomever, this is the top notch magazine to perfect that overall look! I have been through all of the magazines, and none of them compare to the amount of pages, the color, the angels, the selections, the advice, the quality ads, and the celebrities they choose! It is fun because people seem to be more receptive and friendly to you because somewhere in their subconscience, they feel they know you because of face recognition!
The only drawback (other than the price..can be $4.99 depending on whether the store has in-house discounts) is that it doesn't give many step-by-steps on how to CUT the hair, even though it does have sketches (of the celebs) and how to blow dry it to that style once it is cut that way, and also, which hair styles fit which type of face, and hair texture!
My advice is to also save all of the copies you pick up, as you may want a haircut that is semi out of style (i.e. The Rachel) and you will want to have a few years back for reference!)
Good luck and stay gorgeous!
OK! This is going to be the best gift I could ever give you!
