For Any Family To Enjoy

When my children were attending school, I subscribed to Catholic Digest and found it to be a very interesting magazine, having articles regarding family life, world current events, and articles about regular people who were spending their lives doing great things for people.

The magazine is full of little jokes that anyone would enjoy, and it should be realized that you need not be Catholic to enjoy it. Our boys found it to be interesting enough to read the articles, and I thoroughly enjoyed the articles on how other families had made it through hard times and major illnesses. There were many articles about happy families who were not going through any crisis, but, writing of parenting skills, places they had enjoyed as a family, and exciting adventures the families related in short story form.

The magazine is not one that attempts to drill "BE CATHOLIC!" into one's mind, but, rather, a magazine that any person of any faith may read with ease and enjoyment. The articles are short, the words are easily understood, and people who have read it understand that you don't appear to be a religious zealot by leaving it out for others to read at their leisure.

I advertised games for parents to make for their children in the magazine's classified section. I even made some money doing it! I, well, remember the day I phoned the advertising department man, asking exactly in which monthly issue I should expect the advertisement to appear. When he answered that he would ask a particular SAINT, my mind quickly jumped to, "Wow! He IS connected!", until I realized that was the city that the magazine was printed in! I still laugh at myself over THAT one! It IS easy to expect 'religious only' things in a magazine with such a name, isn't it!?
