This is one great little camera. Got this one in orange and it comes in a couple of different colors or silver. It slips easily into your pocket for travel. Mine came with a small carry case and strap in addition to its download/charge cradle and connecting cables. I highly recommend you put that carry strap around your wrist before you point and click as it is very small and can slip from your hand. It weighs next to nothing, has a nice zoom and takes terrific pictures.
Got it for a trip to Las Vegas NV where we didn't want to have to lug around a large camera. This one really filled the bill. Got great pictures with no hassle; even night shots of the lights on the strip. The quality of the photos was very good. Even the night shots were great. I did have to do a few minor adjustments to the night shots with my Microsoft "Picture It" software. Red eye was minimal. I remember only one photo that even had it. Colors were true to life and very crisp. Additionally the screen for such a small camera, was very large. It fills virtually the entire back of the camera (which is slightly larger than a credit card).
I used the zoom quite a bit with great results. It is a combo optical and digital zoom. I usually stay pretty much in the parameters of the optical zoom but got good results with the digital at the lower ranges.
It has a viewfinder in addition to the screen. We found when pinpointing something the viewfinder was handy. For larger shots the screen proved better.
It nestles into a small cradle for battery charging and downloading of photos. We got an extra rechargeable Lithium Ion battery to take on trips for when we're away from a plug in to recharge but haven't had to use it yet.
There is a short learning curve involved with learning to take photos and the wonderful videos this camera will also take. But it doesn't take but a few minutes to be out there snapping pictures. The instructions are clear though there was a bit of confusion as to where to put the memory card. Since the camera is so small, look closely and follow instructions for card placement. The memory card slot is on the bottom. The buttons and latches are necessarily very small so, as I mentioned, you need either very small fingers or just a bit of patience. My husband (for whom I actually got this camera) swore at it once or twice for that reason, but then got the hang and really loves this thing now.
This camera is going with us on all future trips and we're still playing with it, finding out more that it can do. We used the 'video' feature and got a really nice short video, crisp and smooth, from it. We did get it 'stuck' in video mode briefly. But, with the instruction book back at the hotel, we shut the camera off for a couple of minutes and restarted. That put it back into preset mode and all was well. I admit we don't use the video feature much as 'stills' are more our thing.
If you're looking for a small, lightweight camera to take along to family gatherings to capture those unexpected moments, to take quickie videos of special moments, or one to take on trips so you don't have a lead weight slung around your neck then this is the camera for you.
