Calculating without Breaking the Budget

I bought this calculator to get me through the College Algebra course I am taking this semester, and through the Applied Calculus course I have next semester. I was downright fearful when I went into the stores and saw calculators that went for $100 and up...I picked up this unit for $15, and although I was a little skeptical that a $15 calculator would serve my purposes as well as one of the more expensive models, I have been pleasantly surprised.

First, I must say that I like the hard, slide on case that comes with this calculator. It slides off the front and stores on the back of the unit while in use. It is protective and convenient. There is also a chart inside the case with some commonly needed calculation information which is also handy.

The buttons on the calculator are multifunctional, so sometimes it takes a little searching to find a function that you don't use as often, but overall, they are easy to locate, read and use. Since the calculator is a two line display, you can double check the data that you have input to make sure that the answer you get is based on the correct information. This tends to save me from a lot of double calculating to check my work.

You are able to work with fractions, multiple variables and a wide variety of functions with this calculator. There is a cursor that you can move within the input data to make changes for multiple computations of similar formulas without having to re-enter the whole formula. This feature also enables you to correct input errors.

The calculator is powered by solar and batteries for the most economical usage. The display is clear and easy to read. Although I do not have use for many of the features, it is a scientific calculator and can support applications in Trigonometry, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as Algebra and Calculus. Overall, I am well impressed with this calculator, especially when you factor in the reasonable cost, and would definitely recommend it for students.
