Author's Review
This calculator is one of the best scientific calculators on the market. Not only does it come with a nice price tag, it has a full assortment of features.
Let me say that I collect calculators. I usually buy them because I like trying new ones out. I had experiences with good and not-so-good calculators, but this one caught my eye. It has stored inside it 20 unit conversions (40 for two way conversion). They are the most common ones. Now I don't have to look inside a book for the measurements to something.
The Casio has it's basic set of features, including the ability to convert any decimal answer to fraction form provided the number can fit on the screen. If you need to write your answer for school or something in fraction form this is handy.
It also has a equation executor type function. It is possible to enter an equation using the variables A-f,X,Y, and M, and repeat the calculation using different variables. This really comes in handy in science when you have to execute repeated equations.
The calculator has a convenient 'mode' button which lets you switch between normal calculation mode, complex number calculation mode, statistics mode, regression mode, and base number conversion mode. You can also change between degrees, radians, and gradiens, plus you can set the calculator to fixed decimal, scientific notation, normal mode, and engineering mode. Whew....
Not only that, but this calculator can do integral calculus!! You can enter a function, limits, and tolerance and hit enter to integrate! Unbelievable! Warning, this takes a looooong time to do a more complex function (the gamma function, for those who know what I'm talking about, takes around 3 minutes for a n value of 0.5). Use as a last resort only....
I found the calculator very easy to use, as with other Casio type brands. It comes with a durable cover, which can take a lot of punishment.
If you can try getting a fx-991W instead if you need 40 scientific constants, which this later model includes.
