The camera is small...and that is it's biggest drawback. It is so easy to drop...and damage. Use the wrist strap, and your good to go.
The on-off button is an issue that can't be overlooked. It sticks up higher than any other part of the camera...and turns on way to easily when you don't want it too. Like in your pocket or camera case. When it turns itself on from being jostled, and there is no room for the lens to extend...it jams it up and causes it to misalign. You then see "lens error" until it is replaced.
The outside casing is lightweight alumimun, but holds up pretty well. The LCD has a protective cover plate, and it is needed to survive. It is an amazingly attractive camera, and is actually very easy to learn. It has many modes, most which are never used. It takes photos pretty fast compared to many cameras out there. No shutter lag. The battery is superb, and the batteries are cheap compared to many.
I broke my first Z75, and almost tossed it away. Deciding to "explore" the camera, I took it apart. It is so easy to take apart and put back together again. So easy, I started buying broken ones and fixing them. They are CHEAP to repair if you take the time to try and do it yourself.
The lens is cheaply made...yet somehow manages to take great pictures...really good pictures. But if you can't keep dirt out of the lens assembly, it will jam...causing the famous "lens error". Most times...if it is just dirt or sand...it can simply be cleaned. The LCD could have a higher pixel in my opinion, not the sharpest or clearest I have used. But it works well...and again, very easily replaced if necessary.
I have bought and tried well over 20 different point and shoot cameras in the last 3 months. All were under $80 off of Ebay...Canon, Samsung, Polaroid, Sanyo, Kodak, Fuji...just about everything there is in an AFFORDABLE point and shoot. Some took great pictures...but were lacking in so many other aspects...usually lousy battery life or slow shutter lag. After spending a small fortune and having to resell them all....overall the EX-Z75 is without question the best in my opinion....average price is just $40-70 on Ebay....depending on what's included. It's not perfect...but take care of it...and it will treat you very well.
As a last note....if you are someone who has a broken one or one with issues...please feel free to write me and I should be able to tell you how to fix it yourself if possible...or some tricks that work that few know about! bornin59@gmail.com
