Product Review

Pretty Bad Watch

by   darien_nu ,   Jul 23, 2006

Pros:  Cheap Telememo 30 Multilingual Multiple Alarms All you want in a watch

Cons:  Reset to easily loosing all info Battery died in 2 months Face scraches very easily

The Bottom Line:  Stay away from this watch. Battery dies too fast. Face scratches. And all data is lost too easily.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this watch on Sept 05. My old Casio (W71-1V maybe?) died after 7 years of faithful service. The band and the battery quit and I knew it was time for a new one. This watch was on special on Meijer for ~$17. Telememo 30. Multilingual, 10 year battery, multiple alarms, and only front buttons (I kept pressing the side buttons by accident in my old one while sleeping or hitting things). Anyway, the problems started soon after. The battery died in one month, I said to myself: Ok, that's why the special. I bought a new battery and installed it. It worked for another 2-3 months and quit again. By then I had already misplaced the receipt so I was stuck with a dead watch. I don't know if I got a lemon but I am VERY disappointed.

Another thing that I didn't like while I had the watch is that sometimes sleeping the buttons will press by accident. Now the watch has a feature, if you press two keys (I don't remember which two) for a few seconds the watch resets to factory default erasing ALL info in the watch. That happened to me twice while sleeping. I was screaming mad, since I had a lot of important numbers that were making my life easier.

By the way, the face of the watch scratches way too easily. I only used the watch for less than 6 months and it looks older than my 7 year old casio.

I really liked the watch while it lasted, but the reset feature was a deal killer. Not to mention the "10 year battery" good for 2 months. From the experience with this watch I decided better to get a G-Shock GW-300 see my review there.
