Git 'R Done

The Garmin Forerunner 301 gets the job done. Plain and simple. My wife bought me this for Christmas last year and I have worn it on every run since. I just hit 900 miles since Dec.26. I am in the middle of training for my 4th marathon in December in Honolulu. I love the pace readings and the distance readings for the Garmin. Training for my other marathons was always "approximate." I would drive my routes beforehand to get an idea how how far I am going....I have found that my estimates were usually shorter than the target mileage. This is why I love the Garmin. It is pretty accurate with its readings of distance. I have used it on a track and it is usually off by only .02 for each mile. That is close enough for me. I really enjoy seeing the instant feedback with my runs. I have had NO problems with the GPS losing signal....but I live in the suburbs and do not deal with many big trees or buildings. I have been slightly frustrated with the HR monitor...pretty spotty with reception, but it does a decent enough job for me.
I really do not take advantage of all the frills of this device. I basically only use the distance, pace and HR. I do not have preset workouts that I load onto my device from the training software nor do I use the webpages they suggest to load my runs. I am slightly disappointed with the quality of map that shows on the software....VERY general idea of where you ran.
All in all, this is a GREAT training device and am very happy my wife shelled out the 200 bucks for it. They are about 165 now because the 305 model came out.
