Garmin Forerunner 201 GPS Receiver.

What a great new toy for runners, walkers and others in the outdoors. Easy to use for distance, pace, average pace, elevation, history logs, and percent grades.

I did have a little problem getting it to recieve signals but once I told it that it has moved several hundred miles it began to recieve signals. The signal strengh is weak under heavy cover of trees but it still keeps up with the data. I assume it thinks you are going in a straight line?

I cannot begin to tell what all it does so go to the Garmin website to get full details.

The biggest downside is the serial cable setup. Why not use a USB cable, it would be much easier and faster to downland data. The lack of an adapter for use in a car might be a problem since the expected battery life is only about 12-15 hours and if you are off on a extended hiking trip?

Great new gadget and very worthwhile for runners.
