Carlito's Way

This is a great film. I enjoyed every minute of it and, no matter
how many times I see it, I continue to enjoy it. Al Pacino, who plays
the title role, was already one of my favorite actors, but this put him over the top. I LOVE this movie! Carlito Brigante,a reformed 1970's druglord is set free and tries to stay clean, resulting in this dramatic and tense experience which I feel is appropriate for any mature viewer.

It's exciting, dramatic, and breathtaking. This is simply an awesome movie. The crown jewel of this movie is the final fifteen minutes. The movie ends with an exciting chase scene through Grand Central Station. But the first two hours add up to what becomes an exceptional film. I mean, after seeing this movie, I thought that many others pale in comparison as far as action, drama, and every other important category of film. It has two great action scenes - the afore-mentioned climax scene (which is, honestly, my favorite scene from any movie, period) and an exciting gunfight in a drug-den - an involving romance involving Pacino and Penelope Ann Miller, and Carlito's struggle to get away from his coked-up lawyer and best friend, played wonderfully by Sean Penn. Carlito's other struggle is to try to get away from the streets which nearly took away twenty years of his life and which he is still trying to escape with. All of this adds up to one of the most beautiful cinematic experiences of my life. I don't see any weak points in this movie, from the opening scene of his release from prison to the final moments of the movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys good movies. My personal favorite movie of all time. If you haven't seen this film, you better get to Blockbuster fast, because you're missing something.
