For many years I have read many Car Audio magazines, including Car Audio and Electronics. Recently I started a new subscription with CA&E, and have continued to be impressed with the quality of this magazine. Out of the four major Car Stereo magazines that are published, I find CA&E to be the most impressive. (Quick note: Car Audio and Electronics and Auto Sound and Security, also a respectable Car Stereo magazine, are both published by McMullen Argus Publishing, Inc.)
Everything about this magazine is professionally done. Their editors are extremely knowledgeable about the Car Audio industry, and at the same time very easy to understand. I have found that there is a good balance between coverage of real world scenarios and applications, as well as with new state of the art electronic devices that probably are out of most reader's price ranges. Although there is a large section entitled "New Machines" that shows the latest and greatest, I prefer this magazine because I'm able to gain knowledge about design and implementation as well as to learn specific techniques that can be applied to "Do it yourself" installations.
The feature articles contain great detail about each product covered as well as photography that lets you feel like your right there... In the latest issue there are three test reports about products on the market today. These are a great way to make a decision about a future purchase as well as to see how the products you own stack up against others.
Readers letters are printed and answered with respect and detail. You get the sense that the magazine's writers can relate to you and are very willing to share what they know as well as to do research for you.
I would highly recommend this magazine!
