Product Review

Wonderful Point and Shoot

by   simplesolution ,   Apr 26, 2005

Pros:  Great pictures, wide angle lens

Cons:  Viewfinder does not show the actual shot (no where near) and the difficult Menus

The Bottom Line:  If you are willing to learn the menus, this camera will make almost everyone happy. As a Point-Shoot-Forget this camera is great.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

If all you want to do is open a shutter lens and snap, this is the camera for you.

The resolution is great and the colors are realistic. After snapping my 6 month old son for 2 months with it, I cannot find too many flaws for a point-and-shooter.

The optimal thing with this camera is the wide angle zoom. I take pictures of real estate and have had a difficult time taking pictures of the interior of apartments. This lens made it a breeze. The telephoto is nothing to sneeze at either.

I enjoy using a viewfinder, but in this case, DON'T. You see the lens and really have no idea what you are taking a picture of. The display gives you exactly what you will get and an additional bonus of showing you the focus points when pressing the shutter button half way.

The other problem with the camera is the menus. Canon should do a usability study prior to releasing their cameras. Even after reading the manual, with a magnifying glass, I still could not remember how to get rid of the red-eye reduction pre-flashes. Fortunately, they come so fast that it hasn't caused me any problems at all.

Point and Shooters delight, that's what this camera is.
