Think about it before you purchase this camera

Date of Review:  Oct 22, 2003
The Bottom Line: I would avaid this camera if at all possible. I'd rather have a reliable point-n-click than an unreliable slr.
Review: I purchased this camera a few days ago with the EF-S kit lens. I wish I had read a review like the one I'm posting now before I made the purchase. I took about 30 shots and then received an err 99 message on the LCD. The error 99 message locked the...

Canon Digital Rebel - a great camera, and a great price!

Date of Review:  Nov 12, 2003
Review: Really like the feel, and speed of this camera. Shoots very natural for a digital camera, of course I'm used to a Fuji S602, which is much different. You cannot compare the Digital Rebel to a non-SLR digital camera, they are completely different...

Fantastic bit of kit

Date of Review:  Nov 28, 2003
The Bottom Line: I think it knocks P&S out of the running unless you need a small camera.
Review: I have always fancied having a crack at using an SLR, but the costs and hassle factor involved in film and developing put me off, especially as I would no doubt be developing rubbish for ages before I started to understand what made a 'good' photos...

BEST for LESS

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2003
Review: This is by far the best digital SLR camera for under 1000. Although a professional photographer has endless tools to their skills, this camera also creates unlimmited options for the photographing amatuer.

Great - BUT LOOK OUT!

Date of Review:  Jan 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: Make sure all functions work before buying. If repair is needed, be prepared to wait a LONG time.
Review: A really great camera, BUT LOOK OUT.

Apparently some problems with quality control and definite problems with customer support/service. I had my unit for about two weeks, then tried to put on a Canon EF lens to supplement the kit lens...

Initial concern about 'soft' images....but it's alright now!

Date of Review:  Jan 12, 2005
The Bottom Line: I was waiting for the day when an 'affordable' digital SLR was capable of turning out 20"x16" photo quality prints... For me that day has come.
Review: I've had my 300d just one week now. It was a pretty spontaneous purchase; I've had a Canon Powershot G1 for almost 3 years and I have been more than happy with this realising that digital photography was truly advancing in leaps and bounds.
But...

Superb Picture Quality

Date of Review:  Jan 29, 2005
Review: This camera continues to amaze me with its crystal clear pictures - even when blown up to 8 X 10.

Most cost effective for image quality

Date of Review:  Feb 4, 2004
The Bottom Line: Best image quality for the $, bar none. For better image quality get the Canon 1Ds. For faster photojournalism get the Nikon D70 or Canon 1D Mk II.
Review: For a large format landscape photographer, this thing is pretty amazing. It will give excellent quality prints up to about 6"x9" more easily than I can get from 35mm with drum scan. My previous "toy" camera that had to pay its way was a 35mm all...

DSLR on a budget

Date of Review:  Feb 23, 2005
The Bottom Line: This camera offers a great value. It is versatile and offers excellent quality.
Review: The only reason you would choose a Prosumer camera like a Pro 1 or a coolpix 8800 over this is size. When it comes to features and performance it's not even close, the Rebel wins hands down.

The only reason you might buy a more expensive...

Love it so far

Date of Review:  Feb 26, 2005
Review: I've only had this camera about three weeks now, but, as a newspaper sports editor,I use it just about every day (50-100 shots, at least). So far I love it. I recently switched from the Rebel 2000--another fine camera from Canon--so I was pretty...
