How Good is the Canon EOS 300D the first sub $1000 digital SLR?

Date of Review:  Oct 24, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you?ve been waiting for digital SLR prices to drop to a reasonable level, now is the time. The new EOS 300D Digital Rebel delivers.
Review: Since the beginning of the digital imaging revolution digital camera enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers have been chasing the photographic holy-grail, an affordable Single Lens Reflex digital camera. Canon's new EOS 300D digital rebel is...

Digitally 'Rebellious' and loving it!

Date of Review:  Mar 9, 2004
The Bottom Line: Excellent camera with only a few short-comings. May be outdated in a year but right now it's one of the best!
Review: As an early adopter to the failed attempt to shift the photo world away from 35mm to a more 'user-friendly' APS (a.k.a. Advantix), I finally was faced with an SLR that, as good as it may be, still belongs to an undervalued minority. After 5 years of...

A Quality Digital SLR For Under $1,000? Unbelievable!

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: The Digital Rebel isn't absolutely perfect, but is is the best digital SLR on the market for this price, in my opinion. I love this camera.
Review: Introduction
I've been involved in photography for about twenty years. It all began when I was a kid and my mother bought my father a Minolta X-700 SLR camera with an external flash. Dad hates to read manuals, and so the camera went mostly...

Prosumer: A New Word for a New Camera

Date of Review:  Oct 9, 2003
The Bottom Line: A camera that fits a specific audience and price range. If it fits, wear it.
Review: IN THE BEGINNING
(I consider this to be a fairly in-depth and lengthy review. You can find specific information by skipping to the appropriate subhead below).

Versus a Nikon D70

Date of Review:  Jul 1, 2004
The Bottom Line: I recommend the Canon highly all around, and strongly recommend it for those on a budget. If cash is no problem, the Nikon is $300 more and $250 better.
Review: I had the opportunity to compare this camera directly to the Nikon D70, which was a pretty compelling option for me, considering Nikon's reputation and quality of lenses.

A few points on the Canon caused me to choose it over the Nikon...

Entry level digital SLR for the masses

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: A digital SLR for under a grand. Interchangeable lenses, can use older EF or new EFS lenses. Investment is secure as newer bodies come out with more features.
Review: I've been shooting digital pictures for several years. My first digital was a Canon G2, my second digital was a HP Photosmart 850 (see reviews for both on epinions). While both of these are what I'd call fairly good cameras, they both have the...

Getting The Big Picture

Date of Review:  Mar 17, 2004
The Bottom Line: Canon has combined a proven and reliable CMOS sensor (EOS D10) with a proven and reliable camera body (EOS Rebel)
Review: My wife and I only wanted a 5.0 (or higher) megapixel camera with a changeable lens, a through-the-lens viewfinder and user friendly controls for under $1000 - In other words, we wanted the moon. We ended up with the 6.3 megapixel Canon EOS Digital...

Our Second Canon Rebel

Date of Review:  Jan 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: We have nothing but praise for the Canon Digital Rebel. Now we have no excuse for not improving our skills and techniques, and becoming better photographers.
Review: My wife and I are both amateur photo enthusiasts - we enjoy taking photos. We started with a few cheap Kodak cameras and various 35mm point-and-shoot cameras, and then we entered the digital world with a Sony Digital Mavica (the original). Although...

One word, WOW!

Date of Review:  Dec 27, 2004
The Bottom Line: You can't beat the price on this camera, and it will give you a lot of bang for your buck! Prepare to become a genuine shutter bug!
Review: I got my first REAL digital camera for christmas, this baby, and I have been "bouncing" off the walls ever since just looking for anything and EVERYTHING to take a picture of. My experience with it at this point is limited, but being as I have some...

Yes, it's worth buying.

Date of Review:  Oct 2, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you have been waiting to get in on the digital SLR market because of price, your ship has come in.
Review: Having owned Nikon cameras for my entire life, it took a lot of reading and rereading reviews, specifications and image samples before I decided to purchase this camera.

Upon first opening the box, the camera seems extremely light (the...
