Author's Review
This past Christmas my husband and I had the same idea for Christmas gifts - to upgrade our very old 2MP camera to a very current model. I ended up purchasing a 12MP Sony camera from my husband (we are usually brand loyal to Sony) and he bought me the Canon. Christmas day we laughed when we discovered we had nearly identical gifts, but after about 30 minutes his Sony froze up and stopped working. After reading Canon reviews, we realized that my camera was the better option, and so we exchanged his for my identical camera. Its very easy to use, and a very fun feature is the color accent mode, where you select a color in the back ground to show up, and the rest of the photo appears in black and white. It takes absolutely crisp and gorgeous pictures and we find ourselves taking so many more photos especially with our children and the color accent feature! The view finder is very small, but using the digital display solves that issue. The menu was slightly confusing at first to understand, but once I got the hang of how it was set up, it was very easy to discover new features of the camera. Also, the battery lasts for a long while, but learning from previous vacations, buying an extra, and having it charged and ready for you, is never a bad idea.
