Great for newbie & seasoned amateur

Date of Review:  Sep 28, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great camera for beginner to enthusiast. Certainly not professional grade, but more than enough for average users (e-mail, print, web photos). Photos come out great, even under heavy zoom.
Review: When I bought a digital camera, I was really venturing into the unknown. Despite being a technical guy, digital photography was one area where I was a complete newcomer.
The PowerShot A630 has been absolutely wonderful, though, and its balance...

Superb pictures!

Date of Review:  Jan 22, 2008
The Bottom Line: Easy to use with alot of features. Lots of fun to learn and a great tool for the amateur photographer!
Review: This camera has so many functions, I haven't even learned all of them and I've had it for 3 months already! The camera is a little heavy for my taste and I would have preferred it in black, but they only have it available in silver. I would...

LOVE LOVE LOVE this product

Date of Review:  Jan 4, 2007
Review: I got this camera to replace the three cameras i have been toting around. One digital that takes nice pictures but has a long lag, One that has a short lag but takes okay pics and my non-digital camera that I love but it isn't digital. This replaced...

Nice backup camera when SLR is too bulky to use

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great camera for the money; articulated LCD is extremely flexible for tough photo shots. AA batteries cheap to buy and great for international travel
Review: I bought this Canon A630 to back up my Canon Rebel XT dSLR - both are 8 Mpixel. The A630 was intended for situations that didn't require the dSLR attributes - low light, lens interchangeability, bulkiness, and most importantly: the rapid shot-to-shot...

Overall good performance

Date of Review:  Feb 12, 2007
The Bottom Line: The A630 is an excellent choice for those wishing to purchase in this price range and even better than some in higher price brackets for performance.
Review: First Impressions: At first glance I was disappointed. The colour is a boring, cheap looking silver. The body has some weight, but still feels a bit on the flimsy side to me (I'm used to using SLR cameras). The plastic camera lens dress ring is not...

I like it, but it does have some cons

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: Its great for the photographer just starting out and trying to learn the ropes of taking photographs.
Review: Its a nice camera. I don't like the clunky-ness of it, its a big large. It takes excellent outdoor photos, and its easy to figure out without using the manual. I wish it was a bit smaller, it would be perfect if it wasn't so thick. I love how you...

Disappointed with color & Auto-focus

Date of Review:  Mar 11, 2007
The Bottom Line: My A630 doesn't give vibrant colors like my old Kodak & Nikon cameras. Auto setting is unreliable (esp. the focus), but at least I have other choices/controls.
Review: Canon A630: Disappointed with color & Auto-focus
About two months ago I bought a Canon A630. I've taken several hundred shots, mostly outdoors (visiting Thailand) and of our puppy indoors. The colors are flat, photos lack clarity, the gimmick...

This Amateur Feels Like a Pro With the Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

Date of Review:  Mar 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: I like this camera for its all round flexibility that does allow either good auto shots or custom shots changing shutter speeds and aperture openings. Good macro too.
Review: I started taking digital photos when I was sent a Canon A100 camera from Epinions as a holiday gift three years ago. That camera has started me in a new world of digital image taking. My wife is also very much involved in making photos of the...

Canon's A630 seems nice enough, but it's only bin a few weeks

Date of Review:  May 17, 2007
The Bottom Line: Good Value for the money:
- it'll last another four years, until it's time for the next one!
Review: My Canon PowerShot A40 of four years started malfunctioning after a few falls, etc.,
so on my recent Carnival Destiny cruise that went thru Sint Maarten
(see my review of that,too)
I bought the very similar PowerShotA630 while ashore...
