This camera rocks!

The Bottom Line: You can't go wrong for the price.
I bought the A570 IS as my first digital after reading so many good reviews, and I don't regret it. It has all I wanted and more in a camera, but some essentials you should order at the same are a camera bag, a 2 GB memory card, and a set of rechargeable batteries, since the throwaways that come with it won't last long. I hope that battery door holds up to repeated use, or the camera will become unusable - but I could be worrying for nothing. I also ordered an AC adapter since I'll be using it indoors a lot, but the rechargeable batteries last a long time as well.
I'm still learning all the bells and whistles, so at first I took some indoor shots in "Auto" mode under low-light conditions. Well, they turned out dark because the flash didn't go off. When I turned off another light it would fire, so I'll have to learn more about lighting.
It takes great closeups in "Macro" mode of things like jewelry, if you sell on eBay. Someone also told me to adjust my White Balance, and this made a big difference. It was very easy to do, through the menu. You just aim it at a sheet of white paper, or a white wall and click, the booklet explains it as well. I was glad that I could make these adjustments, and the more I use it, the more I'll probably be tweaking them. It's not a camera that I'll outgrow soon.
The nicest surprise for me was the Movie mode, and I didn't even think I would use it. It's actually easier than taking stills, so I took it to a friend's outdoor wedding and the video came out stunning, even for someone like me who's technically challenged. The only problem I had at first was verifying that it was capturing, since it's completely silent, and in the sun I couldn't see the red 'REC' in the screen, which lets you know that it's recording.
My footage of the floor while I verified its status can be edited out, but I'm not so sure that the off-color joke I whispered about the minister can be. At least I took some great stills from the video and sent them to the bride and groom. Did I mention the great sound capability?
I figure if I'm going to hell, I'm taking my Canon with me.
