Author's Review
I love this camera and highly recommend it to everyone all the time!!!
You can't afford not to get one for the really nutty low prices these things are selling for.
(Just a little over 10 years ago a camera with this much ability couldn't be made at any price and what was out there cost $20,000.00 or more.)
This camera has excellent Canon build and image quality with plenty of features for snapshots or just making great pictures.
I carry my A550 with me everywhere I go and use it everyday.
(I even write about using this camera daily and I have a gallery that shows what kind of pictures you can make with one at my website When David Dreams.)
With a focus lock, flash lock, exposure lock, timed shutter function, custom white balance, vivid mode, evaluative metering, a sharp lens, and Canon 7.1 Mega Pixel sensor the serious picture maker in your family will be happy in manual mode ~ and ~ with auto mode the snap shooter in your family will be happy as well
And for this price ~ nobody will sleep on the couch if it gets dropped in the motel pool.
Oh yeah. The only down side is that in a perfect world a sub $150.00 camera would have a better / bigger memory card, better / rechargeable batteries, and a better battery door design.
The upside is that in a couple of years it probably will.
