Amazing value

I purchased this printer yesterday and set it up in about 30 minutes. I was attracted by the appearance, the fact that it does duplex printing, has high quality prints, LCD viewer for photos, ability to read memory chips, uses less ink than competitive products, replaceable printhead, has two paper bins and does scanning and copying. Did I mention that the street price was well under $200?

Although I haven't done much with the printer as yet, the first 4x6 color photo came out in a minute and looked great. No tuning needed although there are plenty of ways to enhance the photo using build-in digital image manipulation software.

I also tried out the duplex printing. No problem. First time printing worked and registered perfectly.

I've had a number of other color matrix printers from Epson and HP and compared with my laser printers they always seem to be highly tempermental and easy to break (literally or figuratively). The HP was more solid than the Epson but the quality of prints (even aften an exchange) left much to be desired.

Hats off to the superior minds at Canon. The successful combination effort of hardware/software designers is stunning.

Only one concern so far: I've had to reconnect the USB to my Mac twice now in order for it to find the printer.
