The greatest thing since sliced bread!
Date of Review: Dec 21, 2006
The Bottom Line: Run out and buy 2. Someday they'll stop making them and you'll want to have a back up for years later when you wear the first one out!
This has been the best printer we've ever owned! I REALLY like it.
The duplex printing is very handy, saves on paper. You can also make your own books with the booklet option. Prints quickly, scans quickly, etc. especially for an all-in-one printer (which I find are usually slow). You can batch photo copy. No more hitting the button to copy, then turning the page, hit copy again, and again (yawn....) You can set all your sheets into a tray hit copy then walk away. It feeds the sheets through themselves - works with scanning pictures/documents onto a computer program also.
The ink cartridges aren't too expensive. I really like that they have a separate cartridge for each color. Some machines have them all together - where you would use up all the red, but have plenty of blue left but you'd have to throw out the whole cartridge to get a new one. I like replacing only what I need.
It prints great pictures (for home use anyway - maybe not for a professional).
I haven't tried the fax at all, so I can't comment there.
I think I only paid around $145 online plus shipping. I "shopped" around online using Froogle (put out by Google) and ended up buying it from Page Computer. They offered a free 3 month warranty that extends beyond the manufacturers warranty (which was 1 year).
A great printer at a very reasonable price - especially considering all the extra features it comes with (2 paper feed options, batch scanning/copying, reduce/enlarge, two-sided copying, 2-on-1 page copying, 4-on-1 page copying, borderless copying, image repeat copying, etc.). Very easy to use.
I'm really just thrilled with my purchase (a great relief after suffering for 2 years with the last all-in-one we owned).I really researched a lot of printers before I bought this one. I wanted to be sure I bought a good printer this time - I haven't been disappointed at all!
Thank you Canon!
