Author's Review
First off let me say I have used office printers for 20+ years, and have owned three HP printers in my home including One Brother, all-in-one (piece of Junk) and one HP all-in-one plus other in an office environment.
Trumpets sound here for the Pixma MP-530 All-in-one.
If you are fed up with the flimsy, easy to break, toy like printers on the market then look at this one.
This one will do it all and do it well. This printer, which I have now owned for aver 11 months, takes the blue ribbon.
I can really really recommend it only one very minor con(?).
Ink useage is expensive but it is so with all printers so I am now sure that this should not earn it any demerits.
It is a true office quality printer. It can print, fax. copy, and scan. It has TWO paper trays which will allow you to switch paper from std to legal size with the slight press of a button. Love this feature.
It can be used as a flat bed scanner or use the jam free single sheet feeder. So, you can manual feed, feed from the flat bed scanner, Feed from two different trays, or use the the single sheet auto feeder.
The manual is somewhat thicker than other printers only because this printer can do more! This printer offers both color and black print options and will even auto detect.
To print on both sides one has only to print all odd numbered pages first then flip paper then print all even number pages - easy enough. The paper trays holds a lot of paper and NEVER jams when properly loaded. Ink cartridges are very easy to identify which one is empty and very easy to change without getting your fingers dirty. If you attempt to print without first lowering paper output tray the printer slowly and silently will do so for you (nice tough). This device handles printer sharing, and networking seamlessly. This printer is a true work horse.
The quality of printed text and photos are both outstanding.
I have found this one to be worry free and maintenance free
except for ink and costly ink is a factor on all printers.
HP who depends a lot on the sale of their printers for their bread and butter should really be worried about this
Cannon printer.
Now perhaps the best is the very affordable price. This printer can be had for about the same as the low end HP printers and this is really no low end printer when it comes to performance. It truly lives up to Cannons past reputation for giving the buyer more for their money. As far as the other comments regarding noise ---- Come on now, if I had not read this comment I would never have suspected that anyone would object to this printer as being noisy, so is my keyboard but this is certainly not an issue for a printer that must be used so often that noise would be an issue. Support from Cannon is there. It is easy to set up and use. And you will be proud to show your friends what all this printer can do and how good it looks. Compare the price first - then compare the features and you will buy this one weather for your home use or small office use. It compares well with printers costing double or maybe triple the price of this one. Lastly. no I don't work for Cannon.
I just love this machine.
