The Canon PowerShot SD800 IS/IXUS 850 Digital Camera

Date of Review:  Jan 21, 2007
The Bottom Line: Canon's new PowerShot SD800 IS digital camera provides consumers with a near perfect balance of ultra compact size, superior performance, and tough as nails durability.
Review: Way back in the dark ages, when photography was all about silver based film and chemical processing, camera choices were much simpler. Photographers who wanted an ultra-compact camera bought a Riga Minox or a Rollei 35S or they joined the CIA. The...

SD800 IS: A digital elph w/ a power shot.

Date of Review:  Nov 13, 2006
The Bottom Line: For situations when size matters more than absolute quality, the SD800 IS is versatile enough to capture moments a SLR wouldn't.
Review: With the current popularity of SLR cameras, why even bother to consider a point-n-shoot camera like the ultra compact Powershot SD800 IS? Well, I have not used a point-n-shoot camera (on a regular basis) for years and always considered my SLR...

SD800 IS: An upgrade over the SD700? Mostly but not entirely.

Date of Review:  Oct 15, 2006
The Bottom Line: A good camera overall, and worth the price. Not a huge upgrade from the SD700 and a slightly stronger performer indoors.
Review: Decisions... decisions... I am unsure whether to keep my SD700 IS and return the SD800 or keep the SD800 and sell the SD700. Playing with the SD800 for a week hasn't made the choice much clearer either.

The SD800 has some obvious...

Canon PowerShot SD800 IS Digital Camera - I Got Rid Of It

Date of Review:  Dec 5, 2006
The Bottom Line: I like the Canon SD800 overall, but I think Canon could have had a lower price. For my money, I prefer Panasonic FX07 and...
Review: I have used Panasonic FX07 and FX50 and was wandering if paying significantly more for the Canon SD800 IS is justified. You can buy comparable Panasonic cameras for $80-100 cheaper. Heck, the FX50 even has a larger screen!

I have always...

I am a happy snapper

Date of Review:  Jun 13, 2007
The Bottom Line: Suits the happy snappers!
Review: There are plenty of technical reviews of this model and people that obviously know alot about cameras are happy to share their views. For my plain and simple 2 cents worth, keep reading.

Firstly, it is small and light enough to keep in a...

The right choice for my "I just want good pictures!" wife

Date of Review:  Apr 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: Good choice for non-enthusiast who wants a high-quality, easy-to-use shooter. Also good for enthusiast who wants a complementary compact to their DSLR.
Review: My daughter, now a toddler, has managed to accelerate the decline and eventual demise of my beloved Sony DSC-W1. Ironic, as that camera was purchased specifically to take pictures of her as a baby. Well, it's a good excuse to do some electronics...

Cannon SD 800 is Great

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2008
Review: I purchased this camera in mid 2007 and have found it to be a very friendly camera to use.

The pictures are clear and the camera is pretty much dummy-proof. Though I don't think it's meant for professionals, it suits the casual...

Great high-end pocket camera for the novice or average user

Date of Review:  Nov 16, 2006
The Bottom Line: This camera has allowed me to enjoy photography again, since it's so small and yet powerful. With its great lens and capacity for low-light shots, it's an amazing asset.
Review: I'm no photography expert by any means, but after having been through a number of digital cameras in my day, and having taken hundreds of photos with this particular camera, I can say that the Canon SD800 7 megapixel Digital Elph is the best camera...

It's not a dSLR, it's a Point & Shoot and a good one at that.

Date of Review:  Nov 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: Photo geeks will nit-pick and get it's older sibling the SD900, real photojournalists will love it for the wide angle and features.
Review: The first thing you have to do when getting a compact point and shoot camera is relax, take a deep breath and realize that you are not shooting with a digital SLR camera. I actually packed this camera up to send it back because I wasn't happy with...
