What was Canon thinking?

I bought this fax machine because I needed a laser fax for my home office and it had most of the other features I wanted. I was going through too much ink on my inkjet fax and wanted to be more economical. I also trusted the name. Most of the features are standard and are fine.

There is one feature that is slightly annoying and one that is horrible.

The annoying feature is that you can't enter multiple fax numbers unless you save them in speed dial as a group. So, unless you want to be constantly saving groups that you may only need on rare occasions, you have to send the fax separately to each recipient. But, I could overlook that.

The horrible feature, and one that makes me wonder what they were smoking when they designed it: the level of toner in the cartridge affects the quality of OUTGOING faxes. Yes, it's true. This is even what Canon told me when I called because I thought the machine was defective. If the toner is uneven in the cartridge because I've gotten lots of faxes that day, the outgoing faxes will be bad. Sometimes they are smudged beyond legibility, sometimes there are large black streaks, and sometimes parts of the pages are blank.

So, I do what Canon said to do and shake the cartridge to even out the toner, and then send all my faxes again. This is a serious annoyance to me and my customers. Lately not even this is helping. I've stopped using this machine and am going back to my inkjet HP 4-in-1 machine.
