Excellent Camera!

The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend the Canon EOS 40D to anyone who wants to increase the quality of their digital photography.
I started out in digital photography with a point and shoot camera. I slowly progressed and moved towards wanting a digital single lens reflex camera, as I wanted to be able to exert more control regarding how I took photos. My first digital single lens reflex camera was a Canon Rebel XT. While the Canon Rebel XT was a good camera, I felt it was somewhat limited by the lack of features, such as spot metering, larger lcd, larger viewfinder, higher ISO. The Canon EOS 40D feels sturdier in the hands. It features live view LCD focusing, auto and manual AF point selection, the ability to set custom image parameters, and fantastic battery life. My absolute favorite feature of this camera however, is the highlight alert. The highlight alert feature, when enabled, will show any overexposed areas when reviewing images taken. The image quality form this camera is excellent in my opinion. I cannot say how pleased I am with the Canon EOS 40D. This camera has been the best investment I ever made in regards to further developing my photography skills. I would highly recommend this camera for individuals who are interested in taking their digital photography to the next level.
