A Very Good All-a-round lens

I purchased this lens because I like the 28-100 zoom range. I do a lot of available light photos so the "IS" appealed to me.

The Photo reviews I read on this lens were impressive. I bought it and the reviews were justified. The "IS" feature works very well allowing one to hand hold for acceptable photos at shutter speeds down to 1/15 @ 135mm. It can be heard as it compensates for hand movement. It, however, was not designed to compensate for subject movement.

The lens is very solid feeling and slightly heavy. It's zoom and focus controls are smooth. There are switches on the barrel for the "IS" and focus.

If you shoot weddings or people this is a great lens for the 35mm format.
