If you can only afford one lens for your new EOS get this one.....

Date of Review:  Nov 15, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you can only get one lens consider this one. While expensive, the IS system is worth the extra money.
Review: I have just recently jumped into the world of Professional digital cameras. I've shot photos for years with my old film cameras but I'm just too fidgety to be happy waiting for my film to come back and so I've ditched the film and hopped onto the...

Best walk-around zoom for Canon

Date of Review:  May 10, 2000
Review: I bought this lens to replace the 28-80mm zoom that came with my Elan IIE. I'm not going to list statistics for the lens; I'm just going to describe my subjective experience with it.

I chose this lens only after HUGE amounts of research. I...

Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM - Great All-Around Lens!

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a fantastic lens for the semi-professional. You will not be disappointed.
Review: I am an amateur photographer that has recently purchased my first digital SLR camera. I have the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and am very satisfied with it. I have gone through two primary lenses before coming to the Canon EF 28-135mm lens. The...

The Canon EF 35-135mm USM is the "Affordable" Alternative

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you can't afford this awesome lens, you could look for a nice used EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 USM as an excellent alternative.
Review: The Canon EF 28-135 IS USM is a GREAT lens, but it might be a little bit too expensive for some photogs on a limited budget. The Canon EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 USM is the "Affordable" Alternative. This very compact telephoto zoom lens is relatively light...

In support of the one lens theory?

Date of Review:  Feb 28, 2005
The Bottom Line: A superb 35mm lens that crosses over to digital with most of its positive attributes except the wide angle coverage on APS size sensors.
Review: Around the same time last year I finally had enough ends to make the jump into SLR photography with the Canon 300d digital SLR. I knew that getting an SLR would lighten my wallet quickly as I would have to build a system that fit my shooting style...

Review: CANON 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Canon's new line of image stabilized(IS) lenses has changed the rules of 35mm photography. One can now shoot hand held, where a tripod was previously needed.
I use this lens for wedding candids and...

Great Consumer Grade Lens

Date of Review:  Feb 10, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you're a serious photographer and seldom use it in the rain or inclement weather, this is a great lens to own. If you're pro, consider also the 28-70/2.8L.
Review: I was amazed when I first picked up this lens. It was compact, lightweight and easy to carry around without the hefty weight of an L lens. Yet I felt disappointed at the same time. For such a great lens, it could have been better designed and built...

All purpose-Almost All Everything

Date of Review:  Nov 26, 2000
Review: The Canon 28-135 IS an all-purpose, leave on the camera most of the time, kind of lens.

The zoom range is VERY handy, allowing close-ups from not too close. Able to go wide easily. With the EW78B-II lens hood, glare has never been a...
