Author's Review
I purchased a Pixma MX310 Canon printer last week. I had previously owned primarily Brother Multi Function printers and I have to admit I was really not looking at Canon printers that much. There was a factory Rep in the store and she really impressed me with her knowledge of their products and the quality, so I purchased this unit. This is an all in one printer that Prints,Faxes Copies, and Scans. I will tell you about the features that I have used so far. The software that comes with this printers has all kinds of extra programs to adapt with this printer and the software is easy to install, even for beginners. The printers loads paper from the top rear and will hold up to 50 sheets of plain paper. It prints pretty fast and will print 22 pages per minute in black ink and 17 pages per minute color. It also prints photographs in lab quaility, no kidding. You can print a borderless 4"x 6" in approximately 45 seconds and you will have to see the quality to believe it, it is awsome. The only drwback to this printer is that it has 2 cartridges one black and one for color, so when one of your colors runs out, you have to replace it with a new color cartridge, some models have indidvidual color cartridges so you can change the separately, but not this one. Each cartridge is supposed to last ove 200 copies, but then that depends on what you print.
There are 2 ways to fax your documents, you can fax them directly from computer or youse the document feeder on top, which holds 30 sheets, it also has lift up flat bed panel for single copies. If you have Distinctive or Ringmaster from your phone company you can designate a separate phone number to the fax and it does not affect your answer machine. The fax operates just like a stand alone fax machine, you insert your documents, dial the number and hit the start button, it is that simple. You can make copies in black or color and again the tray on top holds 30 sheets. The fax machine is G3 high speed and will hold up to 20 coded speed dials and will store up to 50 incoming faxes.
The scanner is easy to operate too, you can do one at a time or scan mutiple items at one time using document feeder on top,(30) pages. I sure am glad the Rep from Canon talked me into trying it because so far I love it. The cost at Best Buy, where I purchased it was $100 and at Office Depot it was $130. If you shop around you might do better. It gives you a maximum of 4800 x 1200 color dpi. It is good enough and the quality is great for personal and small business needs.
