A Rock Solid Printer and More.

The Bottom Line: I have no complaints with the Pixma MP470. I would definitely buy another one!
We bought the Canon Pixma MP470 after reading a lot of user reviews. This unit was bought as a replacement for a Canon S300 after it wore out.
We use the MP470 as a printer more than anything. Mostly for documents and some photos. My wife likes the scanner feature for her business.
We use this unit heavily. It may not get used daily, but close to that.
As a result we have used a lot of ink. The ink isn't cheap,but it's not the most expensive either.
This is the fourth printer that I have owned. The only printer that came close to it was the Canon S300 which was only a printer, rather than a multi-purpose machine.
The MP470 has been durable. We have owned it longer than a year and we haven't had to do any repairs on it. I think we have done the maintenance routine for print nozzle patterns three times.
The software has been easy to use and glitch-free. Canon provides illustrated installation instructions and a very helpful owner's manual.
I have been very happy with the quality of the photos I have printed and have no regrets about selecting this model over a comparable Lexmark that looked like another good deal at the time.
