excellent kit lens

My Canon Digital Rebel came with this lense.

I would recommend that if you are planing to buy a Canon Digital Rebel or Rebel XT, that you spend the little bit of extra money and get the kit lense.

Sharpness:
This lense produces results that are fairly sharp. I didn't have any issues with this lense. I was pleased with the results.

Zoom:
Not much in this department. This would be my only complaint about this lense. It is hard to pull things in very close without moving closer to the subject. Some of the pictures had to be cropped in order to get the subject matter I wanted. This of course made some of the pictures less sharp. At the other end, the lense is a great lens for lanscape pictures with its wide 18mm setting.

Exposure with this Lens:

This lense lets in plenty of light. I was able to catch moving objects no problem, and none of my pictures came out too dark.

AutoFocus:
Works like a champ, most of my pictures came out right on the money. The Autofocus worked quick enough for my needs.

Summary:
It produces great results in a variety of settings. The cameras autofocus works very well with this lens and it is low priced.
