Author's Review

I bought the Canon 600F to replace my old HP flatbed scanner that just recently gave up the ghost. The Canon was on sale at the time ($120) so it was one of the cheapest standalone scanners available in the store (and that was before I noticed the film scanner).  It installed and worked for regular flatbed scanning without much effort on my part.  The power over USB is great for something that ultimately has to sit on top of the desk. Just one cable from the scanner to the PC or USB hub. I find it spends most of it's time in the vertical position to save space.  I found that using it in that position is actually more efficient then when it's flat.  The real genius of this product is in the film scanner.  To say it plainly, once configured properly, you put the film in, and up pops however many frames are on the film, perfectly cropped with sequential file names and all.  In just a 6 hours I've been able to go through our box of old films and scan over 200 frames of film, never having to open a single file to crop.
