Grab and Scan

The Bottom Line: Cheap, light weight, durable and cordless, get one for home for special use for tax doc archiving or photos.
Another light weight device that I like it.
Introduction If you are in a quick need to scan something to your laptop or desktop or if you are into travelling and scanning document will be very handy if you use this device. And.. If you don't need to have a feeder for your scanner, this is also for you. You can use it to scan tax document, scan your old black/white or color to be changed old pictures. It is good to preserve things you don't want to lose due to temperature change, or loss by accidental. Scanning and storing document is the way to save all your valuable pictures and documents.
Hardware
Below is a brief description of the hardware itself. I will explain in detail about the pro and con later.

Software
It comes with Cannon scanner software driver and utilities. As a matter of fact, the most important thing is the driver. With the driver that comes with the CD, you can use any scanning software to scan you document.
Advantage
First, it is easy to install, plug your usb cable (come with) to the pc (laptop or desktop with XP, 2000 or win98!), download the driver that is provided and you can scan your stuff in no time!
The good thing about this scanner is light weight and there is no need to carry power cord or power cable like the old fashioned big scanner. I like this scanner because it is convenient, light weight and durable. By the way, I have been using this for 2 years already although I have not used it on a daily basis.
As far as the quality goes, it is the similar to most scanner, it can go up to 24bit or 16.7 million color. As a matter of fact, sometime our human eyes can't tell the big different for 16 bit or 24bit. If you want to use for fast document archiving or storage, this is the best for you.
The other good thing is the price itself. It is less than 60 dollars nowadays. I mean, comparing years back, a huge giant scanner will cost you at least 200 dollars. This one you can carry around with you and I think it is worth the money
Disadvantage
This scanner is meant for a small document scanning and/or letter size scanning. If you want to legal size scanning, you may not want this. It is small to fit into your laptop bag, but it won't let you scan legal size or bigger paper. You will have to move the paper around or scan it into two times.
The other disadvantage about this scanner is the noise and it is not that fast. Well, there is some noise that may bother some individuals if they tend to scan lots of documents. The speed is not fast enough comparing to a copying/scanning machine.
The software itself is not as great as I thought. However, that is not the most important issue, any other scanning software you can get from the internet or from the store will do.
Of course, if you are into heavy scanner, I won't recommend this scanner.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this is a good scanner for occasional use, but not constant use. If you need something that is quick and I recommend it for you
